Boot blacking is the art of caring for leather, most commonly leather boots. It is more than just polishing a pair of boots: it can involve the cleaning, conditioning, dyeing and polishing of all leather items.
For the boot black, there is sensuality in the feeling of the boots, the smell of the polish and the sweat.
Shined footwear is one of the signs of a well dressed person.
Both the military and civilian are judged by their tie, well pressed suit, neatly cut hair (and shave) and polished shoes.
In this seminar we are going to talk about different kinds of leather, how to care for it, and see the basic contents of a boot blacking, kit, demonstrate how to use them, and practice with each other or volunteers can come and get their boots and shoes even sandals cleaned and polished
